Browse and read entries

Use categories, the reader outline, form selector, and related records.

Categories and directories

Start at the encyclopedia and follow its hierarchy. Tracks and releases are also available in the music directory. The hierarchy follows the detailed classification map: a group member may appear under the group rather than an individual category. Long directories reveal records in batches.

The reader

An entry’s title, artwork, and background represent that record. Use the outline to jump to sections; on a narrow screen, open the outline first. Sources, related works, chronicle footprints, and related articles serve different purposes. Sources support factual claims. Related articles are published articles explicitly associated with this entry; the site does not invent recommendations when there are none.

Forms and relationships

The image-and-name form selector moves between separate records in the same lineage; selecting a form does not overwrite the current entry. Related records can be expanded in batches or collapsed. Relationships, credits, and chronicle events have their own structured data. Merely writing a name or date in prose will not necessarily create a relationship card or event.

Correct a mistake

Check the source and content language first. Use the entry’s edit action, or read Edit and create entries to preserve valid text, add evidence, and submit a reviewed change.

Share a reading page

Encyclopedia entries and articles have a Share button beside the title. Choose Copy link in the popover. When the current URL points to a body heading, you can switch off “Include the current section anchor” to share the page from the top instead. If automatic copying fails, select the displayed URL and copy it manually. Article links retain their article ID.

Improve the archive

The entry title area, stub notice, missing-detail list, and end of the entry lead to that entry’s editor. The encyclopedia directory has a Create an entry action. If a search returns nothing, clear the filters and check aliases before creating a record. Authors with edit permission can propose changes from an article reader; other readers can submit a new article. Submission still requires review before publication.

A reading sequence

Check the title, summary, and status first. A track and release with the same name, or a unit and member, may have separate entries. The outline lists body headings; its URL anchor can be shared for a section. On narrow screens, open the in-reader outline to navigate long text.

Sources explain the basis for claims, not an endorsement of every external page. Related records, credits, chronicle footprints, and related articles have distinct structured origins. A related record opens another entity; a footprint opens an event; related articles are public and explicitly linked to this entry. An empty section does not mean the name never appears in prose.

Images, forms, and onward reading

Open covers and body images in the image viewer. Zoom changes only the view, not the file. Every image in the form selector leads to a separate record; the current form keeps a stable selected state. Related records expand in batches of 12 and can be collapsed. After changing form, confirm the title and URL so separate identities or periods are not conflated.

Report a precise issue

Provide URL, language, section anchor, disputed claim, and a verifiable source. For an image failure, say whether it is a cover, body image, or gallery original and include steps to reproduce. The contribution manual explains edits; a broken external link does not require rewriting an entire article.
